Astralis Talent Defeats GamerLegion to Win CCT North Europe Series 4

Astralis Talent, a Danish academy team, won the CCT North Europe Series 4 after defeating GamerLegion in a closely contested grand final. The Danes secured the $22,000 grand prize after winning Overpass (16-14) and Ancient (22-19) in a match that went into double overtime. With this win, Astralis Talent now boasts a nine-match winning streak.

This is Astralis Talent’s biggest achievement so far, having previously only won local events such as Energive Cup 2022 and NPF Invitational 2022. The team, currently ranked #73 in the world, comprises players who have had stints in the main Astralis team, including Mikkel “MistR” Thomsen and Kristoffer “Kristou” Aamand.

For GamerLegion, this is their second consecutive grand final loss in the CCT circuit. Their previous loss was in the CCT West Europe Series 1 against another academy team, Spirit Academy. This defeat is not an ideal preparation for their upcoming Paris Major Europe RMR campaign, where they have been placed in Group A alongside FaZe, Natus Vincere, and Outsiders.

Alexander “Altekz” Givskov was the top performer for Astralis Talent in the grand final, putting up a 1.33 rating. The team’s journey to the title began in the closed qualifier, where they defeated MASONIC before going on to beat higher-ranked teams such as Sangal, VOYVODA, and Nexus in the Swiss System groups.

GamerLegion, ranked #27 in the world, received a direct invite to the playoff stage and defeated ECSTATIC and SAW to make it to the grand final. Let us cook, who surprisingly defeated fnatic earlier in the tournament, took GamerLegion to three maps but were unable to stop them from reaching the grand final.

Despite being massive favorites, GamerLegion lost the first map of Overpass after dropping a 7-0 lead and failed to close out Ancient despite being 14-10 up on the favored CT side. Astralis Talent’s victory marks a significant moment for the Danish academy team, and their performance is a testament to the young roster’s potential.
